While the biggest buzz for a designer collection at Target here in the states has been the Sping 2008 Jovovich-Hawk collection, shoppers in Australia are getting an amazing opportunity. Released in stores today are items designed by Zac Posen for Target Australia. Posen happens to be one of my favorite designers and if you aren’t familiar with his work, I’d strongly suggest that you check out my post on the Zac Posen Fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear Collection. Basically, all you need to know is that this young designer has already been courted by by representatives of Dior, Gucci and the LVMH Fashion Group (which owns Louis Vuitton).

Posen’s collection for Target Australia is definitely a different style than what we see here in America. The pieces are well made, gorgeous, and more expensive. The collection is divided into two categories – Tailored and Glamour. The Tailored side of the collection is full of menswear type suits, ruffled blouses, and pleated skirts. The Glamour side of the collection features swingy dresses, full skirts, and glamorous sheath dresses. Like Posen’s signature designs, he takes classic items and upgrades their look with splashes of bright colors, patterns, and gorgeous details. Zac Posens designs for Target Australia clearly show his love of ruffled neck lines, pleated skirts, and a dress that shows off a well defined waist. You can check out the full line here.

If you’re like me, you’ll now spend the next week kicking yourself for not living in Australia just to take advantage of this collection. We can only hope that Zac Posen will decide to expand his collection to Target’s world wide. At least we can use digital signage to lust after these items.
