Winter Style Dos & Don’ts From Michael Kors
In the November, 2008 issue of Glamour magazine, readers got the scoop on the latest Winter Style Dos & Don’t From Michael Kors. Kors is one of my favorite designers because he has such a great eye for mixing classic and timeless pieces with current trends. He happily skips over the ultra-trendy items and spends his time thinking up items and outfits that are actually something that the average woman can wear. Back in August, I posted some Style Tips From Michael Kors and am happy to be back with some winter style tips from him. I took a few minutes to find items that are currently being sold online that are similar in style to what Michael Kors was suggesting for each part.
1. Keep Your Sandals On : Do wear them in chilly weather, but make sure they’re your heavier suede or leather pair with gutsy straps. Add thick tights to give a new look to everything you own. Don’t attempt this with your strappy, bare sandals in summer materials. And never wear sandals with nude hose – ever! Try the Michael Kors Camden Gladiator Pump or the Lamb Noel Heel.
2. Forget Bulky Coats! : Do know that a warm one needn’t make you look like you’ve gained 25 pounds. Make sure the sleeves aren’t too long, the shoulders and armholes are neat and the cut is fitted. Don’t buy a coat with the intent of layering two sweaters and a suit jacket under it. You’ll channel Melanie Griffith circa Working Girl. Try the Michael Kors Babydoll Belted Coat or the Juicy Couture Faux-Fur Collar Plaid Coat.
3. Pull On Some Wellies : Do have a pair of knee-high rubber riding boots for slushy, rainy days and wear with skinny jeans or tights and a mini. Don’t keep them on all day at work. Change into your heels or good flats. Try the Michael Kors Logo Rain Boot or the Juicy Couture Sabrina Viva Juicy Rain Boot.
4. Get A Chic Trench : Do know that if you’re going to invest in a coat other than your main one, it should be a khaki trench. It can go everywhere. Don’t think your dad’s old shapeless raincoat is what I’m referring to; look how cute a shorter one can be! Try the Juicy Couture Skirted Trench Coat or the CNC Costume National Cotton Twill Trench Coat.
5. Watch What You Spend On : Do realize that if you crave a pattern on any outerwear, leopard is the most classic but… Don’t splurge on any oddball color or patterned piece till you’ve got the basics covered. Try the Michael Kors Leopard-Print Trench.
6. Brighten Your November : Do add punch to a gray day with red accessories. Don’t forget your smile! Try the Juicy Couture Slouchy Newsboy Beret or the Urban Outfitters Calyptic Beret.

I love when people add a pop of color to a drab outfit on a rainy day. It always brightens up my mood to see when someone’s done that.
Stumbled! I love all of these tips! A pair of rain boots is definitely on my must-haves list!
You know… Being a Washingtonian, I’m surprised I don’t own any Wellingtons. There are some cute patterned ones coming out lately though.
PS, Michael Kors is one of my favorite designers.
