Weekly Obsessions : Week of November 9
Published November 9, 2008 at 10:07 pm 6 CommentsInspired by one of my favorite communities on LiveJournal, Love & Lattes, I’ve decided to start a new series of posts called Weekly Obsessions. Love & Lattes does a monthly favorites post from each writer, and I always enjoyed the posts. They are full of random and interesting items and are also a great way to get to know the author a little better. However, seeing as I’m one of those people who’s addicted to StumbleUpon, reads 3 books at a time, and browses foreign fashion photography on a daily basis my obsessions tend to change quite often. So here are my weekly obsessions for this week.
The Minnetonka Fringe Boot : All fall I’ve been craving boots and, always a sucker for comfort and cuteness, am completely drawn to these. Ever since I saw Ashley Tisdale wearing boots with fringe I’ve been lusting for a pair. Unfortunately, I can’t afford them. But, I certainly can dream, right? They just seem perfect to wear with jeans and cardigans. They are comfy like Uggs are, but the fringe detail just adds a great something extra to these. These boots are available online through Urban Outfitters.
The American Eagle Stripe Tuxedo Shirt : As I stated in my Fall Fashion Wish List, I’m really into blouses with ruffles this year. Or basically any year. I featured this blouse in my post on Boyfriend Cut Jeans and have been wanting to add it to my closet ever since. I’ve always thought that the retro 1970′s ruffled tuxedo died an early fashion death, and love it’s revival in the style of blouses like this one. This top is a play off the basic striped blouse that everyone has in their closet, and you can wear it in just as many ways. It keeps business casual chic. You can score this shirt online through AE.com.
Hot Chocolate : This time of year, I’m always craving hot chocolate. I like to add a dash of vanilla extract or vanilla non-dairy creamer to make it richer. One of my favorite mixes from it is from one of my favorite diary-free cookbooks, The Milk-Free Kitchen. This recipe makes it easy to make hot chocolate for one, which is perfect for early mornings and mid-afternoons. It’s also cheap enough that you can make it on any budget since you can buy almost all of the ingredients in bulk. You’ll need the following :
+ 2 teaspoons unsweetened (baking) cocoa
+ 4 teaspoons sugar
+ A pinch of salt
+ 1 cup boiling water
+ 1 tablespoon non-dairy creamer (optional)
+ Few drops vanilla extract (optional)
Simply mix the dry ingredients in the bottom of your mug, then add the creamer and vanilla if desired, before slowly stirring in the boiling water.
The Juicy Loves Sephora Pavé Lip Gloss Heart Ring : When I first posted about the Juicy Loves Sephora collection, I was really into the Lip Gloss Heart Pendant. Well, as I said, I change my mind a lot and am now completely infatuated with this lip gloss ring. It’s just way too adorable to not want to add it to my jewelry box! Once again Juicy Couture made an item that is so over-the-top and ridiculously girly that it is almost impossible to pass up. I just wish the price tag was a bit lower. If you can justify it, definitely snatch up this ring from Sephora. Trust me, you’ll be the envy of many.
Cigarette Jeans a.k.a. Super Skinny Jeans : Calling all skinny jeans addicts out there – you have to try these! They work with heels, sneakers, and especially boots. A great example of these are the BDG Cigarette Ankle Jean. I wear my cigarette jeans with knee socks and Ugg boots to keep extra snug and warm. I also wear them with layered tanks, long cardigans and my black low top Converse Chuck Taylor’s. They’d also be really cute when worn with a dressy top and some peep-toe heels. These jeans are available online through Urban Outfitters.

Had to go check out the price tag on that ring… Times are too tough for most, even for an adorable studded lip gloss ring. $70, really?
I feel like the prices on the whole line are just a bit high for what they are. Granted, it’s Juicy and all but, still… I figured that the Juicy Loves Sephora line would offer a line of cheaper accessories to make the products available to a wider audience.
