#00031 - Book Review
So, I just got done reading Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. Total time it took me about five or six days to read, spread out into a two week period. The beginning, middle, and end of the book were all very well written, and certainly not predictable.
Rachel, a New York attorney, and Darcy are very old best friends. This instantly sparked my interest because of my 20 year old friendship with Lauren. Darcy is a self-centered, ‘everything is about me’, kind of person while Rachel is a laid back, timid (at times), and patient girl. Darcy is engaged to a strapping young man named Dexter. The book details the love quarrel of the three characters throughout many chapters.
I tell you what, this book had me dreaming horrible dreams, though! One night I dreamed that Greg cheated on me and the other night I dreamed that I slept with Lauren’s fiancee. Most of the infidelity in this book was justified by someone else’s actions or personality. The passion that Rachel & Dex share is something I strive for, and I’m sure very woman strives for, in my relationship.
The humor and sarcasm in this novel is at a perfect level as well as the serious moments. The character’s dialect was very well written. I could picture these characters coming to life and how it’s written is exactly how I would picture it happening.
I can’t wait to read Something Blue next! From what I can tell from the excerpt, the book is based on Darcy’s point of view instead of Rachel’s. Which I find very interesting, because I’ve never read a story/series based on two points of view that are separate from one another.
What are you currently reading? I think next I’ll grab Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster.

I gave myself a goal this year to read one book per month. So far, that hasn’t happened. I need to catch up! I am a sucker for chic-lit, so I started another Shopaholic book. I also have two other books on my nightstand to start reading.
I absolutely love to read. Whether it be a magazine, a novel, a text book (well, hated it in college…love it now!), or a short story. I wish I had the time to read more. No, I wish I made more time to read. It’s fulfilling, it keeps me feeling studious and helps me connect to ideas that I may not have done so otherwise.
What do you all like to read? Any favorite books? What have you been reading lately?
Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things now that Vegas is done. My bedroom looks like a hurricane & tornado ran through it at the same time. My makeup (which is basically my life line) is strewn all across my luggage and vanity. My clothes are piled everywhere. I NEED ORDER! I am a pretty sloppy person, unfortunately, but this has just got to go! On my next day off I WILL clean!
PS: After I get into the swing of things for blogging & stuff, I may hold some contests to get more readers. I have LOTS of MAC goodies I can sample/give away in exchange for advertisements, plugs, and bringing readers over!
