The Romper Debate : A Fashion Do or Don’t?

One item that showed up in stores and spring collections was the Romper. Also known as a Jumper, Onesie, or Jumpsuit, this clothing item has caused quite a debate among fashionistas everywhere. A romper is a one piece garment that’s usually a bit loose and, unlike the typical jumper which is a skirted bottom, has shorts attached at the bottom. It’s one of the ultimate get up and go pieces and comes in many styles, fabrics, patterns and colors.

One of the great things about rompers is that they come in both casual and dressy styles. As reported by Glamour magazines Slaves to Fashion, Kate Hudson recently stepped out in a casual style. Pairing it with flip flops and a large slouchy bag, Hudson wore it as an alternative to the everyday jeans and tee look. In the past, Nicole Richie has gone out on the town in a dressed up version. Choosing to belt it and wear it with a designer handbag and nude heels it has a completely different sophisticated and adult feel.

What is your take on this trend? Are rompers of any kind a fashion do or a don’t? Personally, I think that some of them are very cute while others should be worn inside the house only. I own one similar to Kate Hudsons. While it’s great and comfy to wear around the house it has never seen outside my front door. I much prefer the style of romper worn by Nicole Richie.
