Cruelty Free Nail Polish Brand List

Cruelty Free Nail Polish Brand List

Knowing about the products that you buy is really important. Not only knowing what’s in the products, but also about the production practices of the companies. There are a lot of cruelty free nail polish brands out there. These are companies who don’t test their products on animals during the production process and also do not buy ingredients from third-party companies who test on animals.

Yesterday, I posted a vegan nail polish brand list. What’s the difference between cruelty free nail polish and vegan nail polish? A lot of companies who are cruelty free still include animal ingredients in their products. The post What Makes Nail Polish Vegan? will give you more information about what these ingredients are.

While buying vegan items is the right choice for me, it may not be for everyone (Though you may be surprised at how many amazing polish brands are already vegan!) I encourage you to at least buy cruelty free items as often as possible. This list will let you know what brands out there offer cruelty free nail polish. It will be updated as I find out about more cruelty free nail polish brands.

Please note that all of these brands do have vegan nail polish options. Just read the ingredients of the shade before you buy and look for possible animal ingredients. It’s most commonly shimmery or metallic polishes as well as shades of red that contain animal ingredients. However, you’re best bet is to read the ingredients carefully and look for the ingredients no matter what the shade or formula.

I’ve also decided to include brands that are vegan in this list as well so that cruelty free shoppers will realize how many amazing nail polish brands are vegan. To be honest, the list was really sparse without all the vegan nail polish brands! These brands are noted with Vegan next to the name.

Vegan Nail Polish Brand List

Vegan Nail Polish Brand List

When I first switched to using all vegan beauty and household products, I was really surprised at how easy it was to find vegan nail polish. There are a lot of cruelty free brands that offer a lot of vegan options and there are also a lot of strictly vegan nail polish brands too.  A lot of people have seemed really surprised when they learn that all nail polish isn’t vegan. People know about animal testing and what brands to avoid because of that, but not about animal ingredients that polish can contain. The short story is that a lot of brands test on animals, but a lot of nail polish also contains animal ingredients. Read more about what makes nail polish vegan and learn what these animal ingredients are.

In doing a lot of my own research into what brands of nail polish were strictly vegan, I decided to share this list with readers. I think it’s really important to be aware of what you are buying and the industries that it might be supporting as well as the ingredients that your beauty products contain. Honestly, at first I thought that it would be hard to find vegan nail polish. I thought that I would have to go to salons or order online and pay $10+ per bottle. As I learned, it’s surprising how available vegan nail polish brands are, and how affordable and high quality they can be too.

For those looking to see what the vegan options are from cruelty free nail polish brands, just sit tight. That post will be coming up very soon!

Here is a brand list of all of the vegan nail polish brands that I am currently aware of. If you know of some that are missing from this list, please comment and let me know! I want to make it as detailed as possible and include all of the vegan friendly polish brands out there.

This week, there are several things that have caught my eye. I’ve been really busy, so my sources of inspiration have been all over the place. Nicki Minaj for OPI

Cruelty free nail polish brand, OPI has teamed up with Nicki Minaj! The collection is due out in January of 2012, but I’ve got a sneak peak for readers of Logical Harmony. The nail polish collaboration between Minaj and OPI is everything you would expect it to be – super cute bright shades, great metallics, and a burgundy shatter top coat.

My two favorites are Pink Friday (of course!) and Save Me. I’d also love to see what the shatter top coat, Super Bass, is like in person. What colors do you like most from the Nicki Minaj for OPI collection?

Baking Soda Beauty Recipes for Your Skin, Hair & More

Baking Soda Beauty Recipes for Your Skin, Hair & More

Just like it’s easy to make your own bronzer that you know is animal friendly, it’s also super easy to use baking soda for your skin, hair, and more. There are tons of uses for baking soda in your beauty routine.

  1. Make a baking soda face scrub! It’s a really easy way to exfoliate your skin (which you should be doing weekly) when you are in a pinch or on a budget. Combine three parts baking soda with one part warm water to create a paste. Feel free to add olive oil or coconut oil in too as it will help moisturize your skin. Rub on your skin in circular motions, rinse off with warm water, and pat dry.
  2. Make your own baking soda mouthwash! Add a teaspoon of baking soda to four ounces of water. It’s said to help with bad breath.
  3. Add some baking soda to amp up your shampoo! This is great for those days when you’ve used a ton of product on your hair the night before. It will help get all the gunk out gently. Sprinkle a little bit of baking soda in with your shampoo, lather, rinse and condition as normal. Be careful if you have dyed hair! Baking soda will help strip your hair of the dye faster.
  4. Use baking soda to clean your hairbrush! Instead of using shampoo and warm water to wash your brush, try baking soda and warm water instead. It works great and won’t waste your favorite shampoo.
  5. Treat yourself to a foot soak with baking soda! Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of salt into a foot bath filled with hot water. Let your feet soak for 20-30 minutes, then lather on the lotion (or coconut oil). It’ll make them super soft.

To make sure that what you make at home is really cruelty free and vegan, I’d suggest using Ener-G Baking Soda. Not only do they not test on animals like Arm & Hammer, but they also don’t support testing on animals through financial venues like Bob’s Red Mill does.

Have you tried any of these baking soda beauty recipes? What ones did you like the most?
