My Favorite Cruelty Free & Vegan Brands

While I’ve been asking tons of bloggers for their favorite cruelty free items, I’ve never talked about my favorite cruelty free and vegan brands. I think that it’s extremely important to choose animal friendly options. There are so many out there that it’s really easy to even just pick up a cruelty free version of any product that you currently use. Making sure that my health, beauty, and household items are completely animal friendly (both cruelty free and vegan) is really important to me. Some people think that it must be difficult to find everything I need in an animal friendly version, but it’s actually very easy.
Here is a list of my favorite cruelty free and vegan brands :
- Beautisol – This skin care company is cruelty free and nearly all vegan (the exception is Go Slough Yourself body scrub, which is being reformulated to be vegan). I’ve tried several Beautisol products and have always been extremely happy with them. I love that they make vegan self tanner that actually works amazingly well. If you’re in the San Francisco area, check out spray tan services from Couture Glow. They use vegan Beautisol self tanner for their spray tans.
- Dr. Bronner’s – These soaps are cruelty free, organic, and fair trade. Plus you can use them for literally everything. They are made so that you can wash your hair, brush your teeth, do laundry, clean your floors… Literally everything. As stated in their FAQ, other than the lip and body balms everything else is vegan.
- Earthly Body – From hair products to shaving cream to candles to mineral make up – Earthly Body has a high quality cruelty free and vegan option. They use hemp oil, argan oil, tea tree oil and other great oils. Their products are free of mineral oil, dyes, sulfates, propylene glycol, phthalates or parabens.
- Kiss My Face – There are few products that Kiss My Face doesn’t make. Their products are all cruelty free and mostly vegan (some have honey or beeswax, but they are clearly labeled in the ingredients). While they are most well known for their skin care, which I do love, I also love their other products too. In fact, their whitening aloe toothpaste is my favorite vegan toothpaste. Kiss My Face has a strong belief in using real, natural ingredients. I love that they provide a ingredient list explaining what these ingredients are and the benefits.
- Seventh Generation – I grew up with these products and still love them. The company has expanded a lot from the dish soap and laundry detergent we used when I was a kid and now includes more soaps, household cleaners, and recycled paper goods. Seventh Generation is completely cruelty free and vegan.
- Smashbox – Cruelty free and mostly vegan high quality cosmetics. If you e-mail customer service and ask about certain shades of certain products they will reply and let you know if they contain animal ingredients and what those ingredients might be. I’ve been in touch with them and am building an expanding list here.
