Hair Styling In A Hurry
If you normally straighten or curl your hair in the mornings, like I do, it can end up being very time consuming. When you’re running late, or just don’t feel like putting in the effort, you can still make your hair look gorgeous in just a few minutes. How? Focus only on the top layer and front sections of your hair. That’s all that people notice, anyways.
To straighten your hair quickly, first mist damp hair with a heat protecting spray. Herbal Essences makes a great one called Dangerously Straight Iron Me Flat Finishing Spray. that you can pick up at your local drugstore for around $3 USD. I also love Beyond The Zone’s Straight Shot Straightening Balm, which is around $6 USD. Flip your head upside down and blow dry, smoothing hair with your fingers and/or a vented paddle brush. This will help give your hair some extra volume. Finish your hair by doing a once over with the blow dryer on the cool setting. Once your flat iron is warmed up (I usually start mine before I blow dry), run it over the entire top layer of your hair, paying special attention to the front sections. Finish with a light mist of hair spray if you like. By not straightening the layer underneath it not only saves you time, but it also gives your hair some extra volume and minimizes heat damage.
To curl your hair quickly, it’s best to stick to hot rollers or a combination of Velcro rollers and the blow dryer. Again, make sure to mist your hair with a heat protecting spray first! Since you want the curls to stay, I’d suggest using Beyond The Zone’s Turn Up The Heat Protection Spray, which runs around $7 USD. This will protect your hair and isn’t made specifically to straighten your hair, like most heat protecting products are. Next, you can do either one of two things. Either quickly blow dry your hair and set it in hot rollers, or wrap your hair around Velcro rollers and blow dry. In either case, concentrate on the top layer of hair. To add wave and volume to the under layer, throw a large roller or two in. In either case, set your hair in the rollers (hot or Velcro) before you do your make up. This will give your hair at least 10 minutes to cool and set. When it’s time to un-do the rollers, do so gently. If the curls are too tight for your liking, flip your head over and break the curls apart with your fingers by gently combing them through your hair. Mist with hairspray on the top and underside.
These tips are great when you are in a hurry because they are quick, easy, and low maintenance ways to look your best. It’s nice to be able to take your time when it comes to styling, but sleeping through your alarm clock doesn’t mean that you have to resort to throwing your hair into a ponytail either.

Straightening my hair is such a burden sometimes, although I’ve never tried either of those products. I used to use Biosilk and it worked but not as quick as I’d like. I’ll have to try those two!
I’m so glad you mentioned the Beyond the Zone products. Last summer I went into Sally’s and my friend needed only one more item to get this huge discount so I grapped one of the straightening products. I have the Bored Straight mousse and I LOVE it! It’s cheaper than salon products and it works great for my hair. It leaves it shiny, frizzless, and straightens it for me. I’ll have to look into the two other products you mentioned, I’ve been wanting to buy more products from that line.
