Fashion Inspiration : Sweet Lolita Style in Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan

The use of fashion as a visual form of art is rarely seen on the streets. Very few of us use our bodies as a canvas on which to create. A style trend that I’ve recently fallen for is Sweet Lolita Style. Sweet Lolita style uses pastel colors, gingham, hearts, lace, and ribbons to emphasize the femininity of clothing items. Petticoats, aprons, bows, frilly umbrellas, and knee socks are necessities in this form of style. Alice in Wonderland is a perfect example. One of my biggest fashion inspirations lately has been photographs of people dressed in Sweet Lolita Style in the Harajuku District of Tokyo, Japan. While recently perusing Flickr I came across some amazing photos of Sweet Lolita Style being worn on the streets in Japan. Since I am inspired by them, I wanted to share these photos with my readers in hopes that they will provide some inspiration to others as well.

OMG i love this post! i go onto flickr here and there just to look for these type of pictures! The last girl is my favorite!! Great update
I really love that last photo. I’m not a fan of the pastels, but I love the over-the-top style.
Although the style isn’t particularly something I would wear, I DO love the way it looks. It is really different and a modern form of art
I love Japanese culture/fashion. I couldn’t see myself in the Sweet Lolita look, but it’s very pretty. I love the pastel colors.
I’d actually prefer the hippie look to come back : D I love the bright colors, mod hair styles and bangs. I’m currently letting my hair look like Anita Pallenberg’s.
