When you’re heading out for a day on the sand, odds are that you still want to look like your natural self, but better. Personally, I know very few women who hit up the beach completely natural. Especially since a day at the beach usually involves more than just sunbathing in the sand. It’s easy to keep your look simple and natural while still bringing out your features. Here are a few key products to have on hand.

1. Tinted Moisturizer with Sunscreen : Whether the sunscreen comes in the tinted moisturizer or you mix it in yourself, it’s a key item to have. Tinted moisturizer is great because it gives you a bit of coverage while still looking completely natural. I like to make my own moisturizer by mixing liquid foundation in with my Oil of Olay Complete moisturizer with SPF. This allows me to control the coverage. 2. Bronzer : It’s amazing how just a touch of bronzer can really bring out your features. Using a large brush, gently dust it on the hollows of your cheeks, your brown bone, the bridge of your nose, and your collar bone. These are all places that you would naturally tan first. Whatever you do, do not apply bronzer to your whole face. You want to look sunkissed and natural, not like you have bronzer on. Two of my favorites are Rimmel London Natural Bronzer, Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer, and NARS Bronzing Powder.

3. Waterproof Mascara : Having a coat or two of waterproof mascara can instantly open up your eyes and draw attention to them. Stay away from multiple coats of very dark mascara, and instead opt to use a couple coats of brown mascara or a single coat of black. The key is to look like yourself but better. Sticking with a waterproof mascara will help ensure that you’ll stay away from make up meltdown during the day. My favorite mascara’s for natural looking lashes are Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Waterproof Mascara, Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara (a tad more dramatic than 100% natural), and Sephora Brand Waterproof Mascara.

4. Lip Gloss & Lip Balm : Having a great lip gloss or lip balm on hand is key. You need to keep your lips moisturized and protect them from harmful damage that can be caused by pollutants in the air or harsh weather. Ideally, any lip gloss or lip balm that you use should have an SPF factor. If not, just apply a tiny drop of regular sunscreen to your lips before you apply your gloss or lip balm. Three that I love are Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, NARS Lip Gloss, and Philosophy You Are My Sunshine Lemonade Lip Gelato.
