Beauty Trends From Alberta Ferretti’s Fall Runway

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

One of the most noticeable things about Alberta Ferretti’s Fall Runway show was not only the designs featured, but the beauty trends amongst the models. The look for this show was created by makeup artist Peter Philips and hairstylist Guido Palau. Done up in basic looks, that are really anything but, reminiscent of the 1960s. They all looked like a modern day versions of Twiggy and Brigitte Bardot. It also happens to be one of my all time favorite looks and is also my every day look.

To achieve this look at home, keep in mind that it’s important to highlight your natural beauty. The point of any and all cosmetics looks is to enhance what you’ve already got. Not to cover it up or change how you look. This style works so well with that beauty philosophy because of the minimalist approach that it takes.

Spring Blouses by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

One of the best staple items for everyone are lightweight blouses. You can wear them with anything and instantly look polished. Even if you choose to pair them with jeans, Converse, and chipped black nail polish. Some of my favorites for the season go beyond the basic look and incorporate colors, patterns, and details that add a lot of life to an otherwise possibly drab item. The Spring Blouses by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania are some of the best for this spring.

Spring Blouses by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania

The Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Jabot Wrap Top in Navy Stripe is a great example of a not-so-stereotypical blouse. It even has an attached twill neck tie to wrap around your neck if you wish. Or, get creative, like in the picture above, and use it to accentuate your waist instead. I love how this blouse can so easily go from casual day time wear to night by just a few small changes. You could wear it with jeans and Converse Chuck Taylors during the day. Simply slip on some flats to transition this blouse into night.

The Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Anemone Blouse in Black and White is such a basic, yet extremely creative item. The ruffle detail of the neckline replaces the need for accessories that the average blouse needs. Make this item a power piece in your wardrobe by pairing it with a high waisted pencil skirt and a great pair of heels. It’s the perfect combination of feminine sexiness mixed with power suit chic.

The Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Jabot Blouse in Metallic Gold Stripe is a great blouse for when you are unsure of how formal or casual a situation will be. The unusual neck line makes the item, and you, stand out. Pair it with dark wash straight leg jeans, ballet flats, a couple of gold bangles, and a great purse to be ready for anything.

Lust Item : Moschino Cheap & Chic Peep Toe Pumps

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Lust Item : Moschino Cheap & Chic Peep Toe Pumps While browsing one of my favorite sites for online shopping, Revolve Clothing, I came across the most amazing pair of pumps. The Moschino Cheap & Chic Peep Toe Pumps in Fuchsia are my current lust item. Lately I’ve been really into very feminine details. Especially bows, like the ones featured on these peep toe pumps. What I also love is the color of these heels. The bright fuchsia keeps the style edgy, while the style makes them an amazing addition to any wardrobe.

Lust Item : Moschino Cheap & Chic Peep Toe Pumps For a classic look, pair these peep toe heels with a high waisted pencil skirt, button up blouse and either a feminine vest or blazer. A great example of this outfit combines the Deep Pocket Pencil Skirt from ASOS, Frill Neck Blouse by L.A.M.B., and either the 6 Button Stripe Waistcoat by ASOS or the Stripe Blazer by ASOS. To stay on the casual side, pair with dark wash skinny jeans, layered tanks in basic colors, and a lightweight spring scarf. An example of this outfit combines the Stella Stretch Skinny Jeans by True Religion, Extra Long Boytank from Urban Outfitters, and the Leopard Burn Out Jersey Scarf from Urban Outfitters. New Layout!

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I hope that you all like the new layout!! It features photographs from the February 2008 issue of Vouge Paris. Photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin did a shoot called American Dream that was amazing. I do realize that the main text is a bit hard to read but, personally, I like it! :) I wanted something that was more unusual and not so plain.

The site is now also running Wordpress 2.5. I’m really liking it so far. :) For those of you who use Wordpress as well, don’t forget to update! Keeping Wordpress and all of your active plug-ins up to date will help keep your site running smoothly and securely.

Thanks to everyone who has been commenting on the posts lately! I really do appreciate all of the feedback! :)

Yellow for Spring with Tory Burch

Friday, March 28th, 2008

One of the major trends this spring are the use of bright colors. One that is sure to be hot this spring is yellow. While Tory Burch is more well known for creating simple, elegant, and high quality ballet flats, the designs are not limited to footwear alone. This season, try going Yellow for Spring with Tory Burch.

Yellow for Spring with Tory Burch

One of the most commonly used and overlooked color combinations is green and yellow. This classic combination appears in the Tory Burch Almondine Dress in Big Yellow Banana Leaf. Thankfully, the print of the dress lends the color combination a much needed fresh spin. This dress is 81% silk and 19% polyester. The inner lining is also 100% silk. With a print this loud, keep accessories to a minimum. Personally, I think that this dress would look the perfect level of casual that you can wear at day or night with a pair of wedges. Two great examples are the Aldo Leningrad Wedges in White or the Charlotte Ronson Mariner Wedges in Chocolate. Keep jewelry simple and natural. The wooden accessories that are going to be big this spring, especially the bangles, were made for dresses like this one. Pick up bangles like the Aldo Treville Bangle in Gold or the Forever 21 Wooden Bangle Set in Mustard/Black. Complete the look with some basic earrings like simple gold or silver hoops, or go with the nature theme and pick up some of that style. Forever 21 Bead Hoop Earrings are a great example of keeping it simple and natural.

Feminine blouses, like the Tory Burch Kay Top in Yellow Leaf, are also going to be everywhere this spring. Just like the dress above, they are key pieces in your wardrobe that you can learn to easily wear during the day and into the night. Being a 100% silk top, this top easily goes from day to night. To easily transition from day to night, pair it with some dark wash skinny jeans, such as the 7 For All Mankind Edie jeans in Indigo, and heels. I love the idea of how mary jane heels, like the Juicy Couture Eva in Black Soft Patent. They go with the innocent look of the ruffles of the top, but also play along with the sexiness of the look. It’s playful but not over the top.

Another big trend this spring is hippie chic. Tory Burch Beaded Henley in Yellow Paradise Floral. This 100% silk top features a beaded neckline. Perfect for a not-so-average vintage looking piece. Pair this top with some wide-leg trouser style pants. The 7 For All Mankind Ginger Trouser in Feather or the Abercrombie & Fitch Darcy Twill Pants in white. Wear them with some simple wedges, like the Beatrice Horseshoe Stacked Sandal in Sand, or some simple leather sandals, like the Urban Outfitters Macrame Medallion Sandal in Cognac. For jewelry, pick up the Urban Outfitters Beaded Drop Earrings in Yellow.

Reader Poll : Give Me Some Input!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

I’ve been really slacking off when it comes to blogging this week. :( However, I do have a good excuse! I was promoted at one of my jobs to a full-time (40 plus hours a week), Monday thru Friday, with regular hours position. My second job, which I had just gotten hired at, wouldn’t work with the schedule of the new job. But, that’s life, it’s not a big deal since I was only going to work 8 hours a week there, and this full-time position is going to be the best thing for me right now. :) It’s in retail, some of you know where and most don’t, and I like it. This week we’ve been doing our floor set to transition from Spring into Summer, so I’ll be working over 50 hours and will probably go into work on Saturday to catch up on some things. So, this explains my absence from the blogging world this week and I really hope that you all understand. :)

So, to make up for my laziness this week, I’ve decided to open up a post that’s just about asking your opinions. What blog topics would you like to see here? Are there some things I blog about that you would like more of? Less of? Please be honest and let me know any and every opinion that you have. :) While I blog about topics that interest me, and are obviously also of interest to the readers, I would love suggestions.

By the way, don’t forget to check out my hostees - Brittany, Heather, Kristen, and
Tosha (be sure to check out her blog anniversary contest). I am always hosting, but it’s by invitation only. If you’re interested, just leave a hint in a comment. ;)

Check out some information on faucets.
